Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Peel?

Peels exfoliate the outer damaged layers of the skin to expose healthier skin. Peels can help improve acne, wrinkles, and sun damage done to the skin such as brown spots.

What type of Peel is best for my skin?

Everyone's skin is different and everyone has different needs as to what they would like to accomplish with their skin.  We can discuss your skin care goals during the initial consultation to decide what would be the best peel to improve your skin.  We will provide a free skin consultation to discuss what your needs are.

Does a Peel hurt?

The client can expect a tingling feeling or tightening of the skin, but it should not cause extreme discomfort.

How much peeling can I expect from a Peel?

Every person is different.  Peeling usually occurs 24-72 hours after the peel treatment has been performed.  Most just experience only a light shedding of the skin.  It is also normal to achieve no peeling or limited peeling depending on the skin and the type of peel you have.

What is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is exfoliation of the skin using aluminum oxide crystals.  It can help to reduce fine lines; acne scars, sun spots, and gives the skin a smoother, healthier feel.

Is it absolutely necessary to receive a series of Microdermabrasion or Peel Treatments?

It is not necessary to receive a series of 6-8 peels or microdermabrasion treatments, however to receive maximum benefits it is highly recommended to receive 6-8 treatments.  After one peel or one microdermabrasion treatment you will most likely see visible results, but it is usually more beneficial to receive more than just one of these procedures.

Can anyone receive a Peel or Microdermabrasion treatment?

Peels and Microdermabrasion are not recommended to anyone who has  cold sores, or who is taking prescription medication for their skin such as Accutane.   If you have exfoliated your skin in the last 72 hours from waxing or using exfoliation cream these treatments are not recommended.  Anyone with Eczema or other certain skin conditions should avoid these treatments as well.  We will discuss all of your skin care needs and concerns during your initial consultation to make sure that you are an ideal candidate for these treatments.

What can I do to make sure I receive the maximum benefits after each treatment?

Make sure you wear sunscreen of SPF 30 after each treatment.  Keeping out of the sun can help to make sure you skin doesn't age or hyper pigment.  Stay out of direct sun light or heat.   Also, be sure to follow your esthetician's recommendations for skin care treatment after the procedure.

What are the benefits of facials?

Having facials regularly can help reduce the look of wrinkles through massage to the face.  It can help tone the skin, reduce blemishes, and make the skin appear radiant and healthier.  Facials can help increase circulation and collagen in the skin.  Best of all facials are extremely relaxing and can reduce stress as well.

Will I break out after a facial?

Sometimes. It is important to know that if you do break out after receiving a facial it is not the facial that actually caused the breakout. The sebum was already there under the surface of you skin but after exfoliating your skin during the facial,  it is possible to have the bacteria come to the surface quicker after receiving a facial.  This doesn't usually happen, but it can.  This is why if you are planning on a getting a facial for a special event it is best to come 10 days before the day of the event as this will ensure that your skin will be at its absolute best on your special day.

How are your body wraps different from other body wraps?

The wrap uses herbal formulations that work externally to internally. This type of program aids in the removal of wastes that have become trapped in vulnerable parts of our bodies. It is basically a cleansing process of the tissue underneath the skin, and helps restore elasticity to loose, flabby skin. It does not dehydrate and age the skin.  The client is also not required to sweat in order to lose cellulite.  The client must just relax with the wrap and allow the product to penetrate under the skin.  This is one of the healthiest types of body wraps.

How long does the wrap take?

The entire process takes approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours.  This includes the consultation, exfoliation, measurements, wrap, and relaxation for 60 minutes, and time to cut out and re-measure. If the client is not measured each time, the process will be much faster.  The measurement time and re-measurement time can take up to 45 minutes.  If you buy a series of wraps we can measure only before the first wrap and then after the final wrap. If a client is only interested in the wrap as a lymphatic cleanse, they may choose not to be measured at all to save 45 minutes in time.  A facial can be purchased for an additional $10 if the client wishes to have a facial done while they stay wrapped for the 45 minutes.

Why will I lose inches with this body wrap?

Cellulite is caused by toxins and wastes that are trapped in the soft, fatty tissues of the body. These are removed at the cellular level by breaking them up and moving them into the circulatory and lymphatic systems for permanent elimination through the body's natural processes. By drinking a large quantity of water in the hours following the wrap, they are rapidly flushed out of the system. The result is inch loss and body contouring.   Body wraps are wonderful for those who are losing weight, as they have the ability to tone and tighten loose skin that develops when pounds are shed.
